At the 2025 European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress, Jasper Twilt was awarded the first-ever EAU Imaging Vision Award for his research on prostate cancer diagnostics. His paper, “Evaluating Biparametric versus Multiparametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Diagnosing Clinically Significant Prostate Cancer: An International, Paired, Non-Inferiority, Confirmatory Observer Study” (link), was recognized as the most innovative imaging study published in urology in 2024.
Conducted through a large international collaboration, the study demonstrated that a non-contrast, biparametric prostate MRI protocol delivers diagnostic performance comparable to the traditional multiparametric MRI approach. These findings have important implications, potentially improving accessibility, lowering costs, and streamlining prostate cancer diagnostics without compromising accuracy.
