Bernadette Greenwood

 

Ms. Bernadette M. Greenwood is an external candidate with the PhD group of Prof. Jurgen Futterer in the Departments of Radiologie and Nuclear Medicine.  Her area of interest is Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) of prostate cancer under MRI-guidance using a transrectal approach.  She conceptualized this technique in 2009 and performed the first case on a human being in May, 2010 in the United States (Indian Wells, CA, HALO Diagnostics Innovation Center) with Dr. Stuart May, Dr. John Feller and Roger McNichols, PhD.  The focus of Ms. Greenwood’s research is Phase I: safety and feasibility and Phase II: efficacy of oncologic control.  She was instrumental in establishing an MRI-based prostate cancer program in Trinidad and Tobago in 2019.  Her goal is to have a geometric impact on men’s health, globally.
