Ilse Spenkelink studied Technical Medicine, with a specialization in Medical Imaging and Interventions, at the University of Twente. In October 2019 she started her PhD project at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the Radboud university medical center. Her research focuses on techniques that are used during image-guided procedures in the hybrid operating room that is part of the Medical Innovation and Technology expert Center (MITeC). She is supervised by Jurgen Fütterer and Maroeska Rovers.
